Independence Day  World War II Veteran in Niles

ILES, Ohio (WKBN) — An exceptional honor was given to a World War II

veteran Sunday at the Fourth of July Parade in Niles.

Niles Native Joseph James Bonanno is a 100-year-old WWII veteran.

He served valiantly during WWII as a field surgeon under General George Patton.

He put his life in extreme danger in support of individual warriors injured in fight. 

Sunday, Bonanno got the mayoral declaration from the city

of Niles in their Fourth of July march.

Bonanno was the Grand Marshall of the motorcade.
